JOURNAL-TAKO / "Foreigners, Indonesians and other nations in the world need to learn and know about who the LANI people are? LANI people: Autonomous, independent, independent and fully sovereign people, Never governed by foreign nations." (11/14/2023 12.23 WIB
The Lani tribe who use the Lani language is the largest tribe in Papua, who live, inhabit and reside for centuries in the West Papua Mountains in the
western part of the Balim Valley. The areas inhabited by owners and users of the Lani language include: Piramit, Makki, Tiom, Kelila, Bokondini,
Karubaga, Mamit, Kanggime, Ilu, Mulia, Nduga, Kuyawagi, Sinak and Ilaga The word "Lani" has three meanings, namely:
1. The word "Lani" means to go. The word Lani, which means "to go", is
used by the Hubula tribe who inhabit the Balim Valley. When telling anyone to leave, it is usually expressed "lani" which means go.
2. The word "Lani" is also used for men who don't have a wife or really don't
have a wife. Usually called "Ap Lani" who always lives alone, gardens alone, cooks alone and enjoys herself. "Ap Lani" usually lives with men in the same honai.
In the existence of this man "Ap Lani" he lives a normal life as usual with the Lani people. There are not many men of this model, and they are rare but those people are called "Ap Lani."
3. The word "Lani" will have a clear, deeper and broader meaning, if added to the word "Ap" it will become Ap Lani which contains the meaning, namely: "Autonomous, independent, independent and fully sovereign people." In the book:
We Drink Water From Our Own Wells" (Yoman, 2010: 92) the author explains as follows: The word Ap Lani means: "independent people, people who have
broad autonomy, independent people, who are not regulated by anyone. They are people who always live in high awareness that they have life,
they have language, they have history, they have land, they have mountains, they have forests, they have rivers, they have clear villages,
they have lineages. what is clear, they have clear beliefs, they have the ability to organize and take care of anything, they never move from place to place, they live in an orderly and orderly manner, they have everything."
From this explanation of the meaning of the word "Lani" it becomes clear that who the Lani people really are is part of the people and nation of
West Papua, a Melanesian nation. Based on the socialist ideology of the West Papuan people from the Lani tribe, I am a person who has been very disturbed all this time.
